How to optimize the use of the Minitailz?
Onboarding
When should I put the Minitailz on my dog?
For maximum efficiency, it is strongly recommended to leave the collar on your dog as much as possible, including during the night and periods of rest. Heart rate and respiratory rate measurements can only be taken while at rest, so if the collar is not worn during these periods, the dog will not obtain any health measurements. It is also advisable to leave the collar on your dog as much as possible to establish normal values for your dog. This maximizes the chances of detecting any changes from your dog's usual data, which should alert you to any potential health or well-being issues. Plan to leave the collar on your dog continuously for at least the first few weeks during the calibration phase. The collar was designed to be safely worn around your dog's neck: it is waterproof, durable, and comfortable.Never leave the collar detached within reach of your dog, and if your dog enjoys fighting with other dogs (and who can blame them?), then consider removing the collar occasionally to avoid bites.
Understanding when data is sent to the app
To optimize the performance of the Minitailz, including its battery, data is not continuously sent to the app.
- Geolocation: When your dog is on the move (walking, riding in a car, etc.), the collar performs geolocation at the frequency defined in your settings (2 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes). When the collar detects that your dog is not moving, it only sends one point every 2 hours to conserve battery life.
- Activity: Activity data is sent frequently throughout the day. The frequency of updates depends on many parameters but should be between 10 minutes and 2 hours.
- Health: Measurements of your dog's heart and respiratory rate are only taken at certain times of the day when your dog is at rest. You will see the average of the day's measurements in the app. Therefore, the collar must have taken an initial measurement during the day to have health data in the app.
