In 2021, motor vehicle thefts were already numerous: about 120,000 people had fallen victim ( compared to 140,000 in 2024 according to the application Coyote). Among these stolen vehicles, scooters seemed to be prime targets. Indeed, according to its Theft Observatory, Coyote reported 63 thefts per 1000 scooters in circulation, making these two-wheelers prime targets for thieves.
And Aymerick experienced this in the French capital… He tells us:
“My scooter (a Honda PCX 125, the 2nd most stolen scooter in 2022) was stolen one Sunday night while it was parked on a small residential street in Paris.
Here’s a simple excerpt from my complaint:
-–On October 11, 2021, around midnight, I parked my scooter nearby on a street in Paris.— —Around 1:30 AM, I received notifications on my phone via the “INVOXIA GPS” app informing me of a movement alert on my scooter.—
-–I woke up around 5:55 AM and checked the notifications, I decided to go check if my scooter was still where I had parked it and found it had disappeared.—
-–I found that my scooter had been in Fresnes for 1 hour 55 minutes, GPS coordinates: XX.XXXXXX,X.XXXXXX.—
I must admit that the officer wasn’t really interested in the scooter’s location, which surprised me a lot. I asked if they would pass the information to the nearest police station to the scooter’s location. It wasn’t obvious to them at all. They gave me the number of the local police station and I had to make the connection.
Okay, it’s not a criminal case but still, it would have been nice if there was a bit more collaboration between two police stations that are less than 12 miles apart…
After checks, the local police told me they hadn’t seen any scooter parked at the location I had indicated (even though my GPS tracker hadn’t moved). I was very surprised and mostly afraid that the thieves had discovered the tracker and thrown it in the street or in a trash can.
I still looked around the whole area on Google Maps until I discovered there was an entrance to an underground public parking lot nearby. So I called the police again to ask if they had looked underground. Of course not!

A few hours later, the BAC attached to the same police station called me to say they had found my scooter in the infamous parking lot. They decided to “stake out” for a night or two to see if anyone would come to retrieve it. Nothing… So I got it back quickly.
Unfortunately, I had locked the steering and it was forced by the thieves, which damaged the entire Neiman system and made it impossible to start and use the scooter. Because of this, I had to contact the insurance to get compensation related to the repairs. If I hadn’t put this so-called protection, I would have left with my scooter without any problem and the insurance would never have heard about it.
Since that date, my advice to my friends is: avoid locks that can damage the vehicle (like disc locks that can break the disc and steering lock, which can be easily forced and create heavy damage) but put a GPS tracker.”
Thank you Aymerick for this story!
Like thousands of people around the world, he was able to benefit from the performance of Invoxia GPS trackers to find his scooter. It’s no wonder that the recovery rate of two-wheelers is tripled when they are equipped with a GPS tracker*: thanks to its advanced features, the Invoxia range offers true anti-theft protection to its users.
