Are you curious about your dog or cat’s habits? Are you looking to understand them better? The Pet Tracker is here to show you all their secrets. It even allows you to prevent potential illnesses in your pets!
At Invoxia, we are committed to protecting everything that is dear to you. That’s why we have designed a tracker capable of measuring the health and activity indicators of your dog or cat. Identify risks of diseases, fatigue or stress in your animals. Finally, be able to ensure their good health in the long term!
Certain breeds of dogs and cats are particularly prone to various pathologies. And the indicators of the Pet Tracker can help identify them.
The dog breeds most likely to be sick #
According to Toutou Pour Le Chien, the most popular dog breeds are unfortunately also the most at risk. What are the dog breeds most likely to have diseases, and what types of diseases are we talking about?
The Golden Retriever #
The Golden Retriever is a breed of dog that tends to be prone to diabetes, urinary stones, and hip and elbow dysplasia. Dysplasia has the consequence of reducing mobility due to pain and limping of the animal.
The Beagle #
The Beagle, despite its robustness, is predisposed to a number of diseases such as epilepsy or narcolepsy. Narcolepsy reduces the dog’s activity as it causes phases of falling asleep at unusual times. The Beagle is also sensitive to diabetes, which will cause him to have a greater thirst and appetite.
The Bernese Mountain Dog #
Like the Golden Retriever, the Bernese Mountain Dog is subject to kidney failure and dysplasia of the hip, elbow, and shoulder, which prevent it from moving correctly.
The Miniature Schnauzer #
The Miniature Schnauzer is a particularly sensitive and fearful breed of dog. It tends to develop forms of depression much more easily compared to other breeds. These depressions can be characterized by a lack of activity in the animal and constant fear. It is also a breed of dog that is more prone to allergies.
The Border Collie #
Although powerful, the Border Collie tends to develop hip dysplasia which impairs its mobility. It is also sensitive to epileptic seizures or certain medications that it does not tolerate well. This can manifest itself in vomiting.
Labrador #
The Labrador is prone to developing diabetes and licking dermatitis. These dermatitis are types of red patches that cause lesions on the skin, generally due to excessive licking. It can also more easily develop narcolepsy (sleep disorders), epilepsy, or kidney disease.
The most susceptible cat breeds to illness #
If many dog breeds are likely to have certain pathologies, cats are not left out either. Here are the main breeds and diseases concerning our little felines:
The Persian #
According to CHV Frégis, the Persian is a breed of cat that is sensitive to kidney infections, digestive diseases, and nervous diseases. These diseases are likely to impact its diet and physical activities.
The Siamese #
The Siamese is a breed of cat that is prone to gastrointestinal problems and frequent heart problems. These problems are likely to impact its diet. ( ZooPlus)
The Sphynx #
According to Anicura, the Sphynx cat tends to have skin infections, especially because it does not have fur. This characteristic causes more allergies. It is also a breed of cat that tends to have difficulty regulating its body temperature. So don’t hesitate to equip it with a little sweater to avoid getting colds! Due to its resistance, the Savannah cat is a breed that needs a lot of exercise. It is therefore a breed of cat that is more sensitive to depression if it does not let off enough steam during the day. As with humans, diseases in animals are not uncommon. Sudden changes in habits can therefore alert you to their health status. The Pet Tracker Invoxia measures the activity of your pets and prevents diseases.
And that’s great because that’s exactly the purpose of the Pet Tracker! This compact device uses artificial intelligence to measure a range of indicators, both regarding the health and daily routine of your furry friends.
Thanks to the Pet Tracker, you can finally discover their favorite places, their territory, what they do during the day when you’re at work, or at night when you sleep.
All the indicators of the Pet Tracker #
From the Invoxia application, observe their habits at any time thanks to the following data:
- Walking time: The time spent walking during the day
- Running time: The time spent running during the day
- Total distance traveled: With all the activities practiced, how many kilometers has the animal traveled?
- Resting index: calculated based on the immobility rate of your dog between 1am and 5am, to inform you about the quality of their sleep
- Total rest time: particularly suitable for cats who sleep spread out throughout the day
- Playtime: The time spent playing during the day
- Meals: How many times your animal eats per day (to avoid overfeeding or underfeeding)
- Favorite walking places: to know your animal’s favorite spots
- Scratching frequency: If your animal scratches more than usual, which can, for example, prevent a flea infestation
- Barking frequency: If your dog tends to bark more than usual, it can, for example, reflect stress or illness in animals.
Pet Tracker is the smallest GPS tag for pets. It weighs only 15g and easily attaches to your cat or dog’s collar. In this way, it adapts to all sizes of animals without bothering them. Waterproof, the Pet Tracker is also equipped with GPS zone tracking (between 5 and 80 m) and a hot/cold proximity radar to help you in the last few meters. Thanks to the virtual fence alert (out of zone), you will be notified if your cat or dog is moving away too much.
Be alerted in case of potential risks thanks to the Pet Tracker #
However, the Pet Tracker alone does not guarantee that your animal has a certain disease. Its indicators allow you to visualize and detect any increase or decrease in activity, in order to be able to react and discuss it with your veterinarian. The Pet Tracker’s activity log will also provide an overview of your animal’s different indicators over time, which will help establish a diagnosis.
Common animal diseases and ways to identify them #
In order to illustrate our points and according to the Veterinary Hospital Frégis, here is a non-exhaustive list of different diseases that the Pet Tracker can help detect. As a reminder, the Pet Tracker alone will not be able to confirm that a change in activity necessarily corresponds to one of the pathologies listed below. The indicators highlighted for each disease can alert you to a potential risk, which will then need to be confirmed by a veterinarian through further analysis.
Diabetes: #
In animals, diabetes is characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels, which causes hyperglycemia. There are several types of diabetes, but the different symptoms remain the same. Diabetes is characterized by an increase in thirst, hunger, or urine production. Some dog breeds are more predisposed to this pathology (Beagle, Cairn terrier, Poodle, Keeshond, Miniature Pinscher, Dachshund, or Australian Terrier).
→ Key indicator: mealtime (based on the norms indicated by your veterinarian)
Kidney failure #
Kidney failure in dogs and cats is one of the most common forms of kidney disease. It is caused by a bacterial infection, but it is often difficult to identify. When irreversible kidney damage occurs, no treatment can cure the animal. However, clinical signs can be improved and the progression of the disease can be slowed down with treatment. The older the animal, the more likely it is to develop kidney failure. Nevertheless, certain breeds are predisposed to it, such as the Bernese Mountain Dog in dogs and the Persian in cats. Distinctive clinical signs include increased thirst, decreased appetite, lethargy (thus a decrease in physical activity), and sometimes vomiting and weight loss.
→ Key indicators: meal time, running time, rest time
Narcolepsy: #
Narcolepsy in animals is characterized by random episodes of falling asleep. These episodes occur at unusual times, such as during physical activity. The dog breeds most prone to narcolepsy are Dachshunds and Labradors. However, no breed of cat is particularly predisposed to it.
→ Key indicators: Rest time, running time
Intoxication: #
In dogs and cats, several foods can be the cause of intoxication, such as avocado pits or chocolate. The symptoms of intoxication are most often digestive disorders, even vomiting. This sometimes involves a decrease in the animal’s energy and fatigue, as well as respiratory and cardiovascular problems. Hospitalization is often necessary because intoxication is deadly in animals and must be treated quickly.
→ Key indicators: Running time, rest time, meal time
Bulimia: #
Bulimia is characterized by excessive hunger with no feeling of satiety. Bulimia can be explained by metabolic problems such as diabetes. Otherwise, it can be caused by a behavioral disorder, such as anxiety or hyperactivity. Indeed, according to Santévet, 40% of cases of bulimia are related to the animal’s stress.
→ Key indicator: Mealtime
Depression #
Depression in dogs or cats is, like in humans, a very disabling condition for their social life and well-being. It is manifested by a loss of activity, a refusal of games and interactions, and motor agitation crises. Also noteworthy are a decrease in appetite and discontinuous sleep, with insomnia and sudden awakenings.
→ Key indicators: Activity time, mealtime, rest time
Skin allergies #
In animals, allergic diseases manifest themselves through itching and inflammation of the skin. There are two types of allergies:
- Environmental allergies, such as pollen or pollution
- Food allergies
In both cases, the symptoms are itching in the ears, armpits, and groin. The animal may scratch, bite, nibble, or lick itself more frequently than usual. (Anicura)
Key indicator: Scratching
