A passionate two-wheeler owner concerned about the security of his new TMAX, a man in his fifties who preferred to keep his name secret, chose to equip himself with an Invoxia GPS tracker. His goal was simple: anticipate a possible theft and maximize his chances of recovering his scooter. A decision that proved valuable when, a few months later, his vehicle actually disappeared. Here is his story, filled with worry, twists, and relief.
Let’s get to know each other a bit, can you tell me more about yourself in a few words? #
I am 55 years old and live in the 74, near Switzerland. I am quite comfortable with all things technology.
What led you to equip yourself with a GPS tracker? #
Having bought a new TMAX, I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to invest in a GPS tracker in case of theft.
Why did you choose an Invoxia GPS tracker? #
I compared the different offers and what I liked about your solution is that it doesn’t need to be connected to the vehicle’s battery. Indeed, in case of theft, nothing is easier than following the cables from the battery!
Were you afraid of hiding your GPS tracker in a too visible place? Did you do several tests before finding your final location? #
I immediately found an unbeatable hiding spot :)
Your TMAX was recently stolen, can you tell us about this misadventure? #
In the morning, leaving for work, I realize that the scooter is no longer there. Panic…
Moreover, the scooter was on the side stand and not the center stand, which has the particularity of locking the vehicle. The surveillance camera batteries were obviously dead… Fortunately, I remembered that I had put a GPS tracker!
How did the GPS tracker help you find your scooter? #
I located the scooter on the next street. I went there without delay, but no scooter on the street, it pointed to a box of a house. I called the municipal police who indeed noted the geolocation but could do nothing more. The national police were called, and after 40 minutes in the cold, we finally rang the doorbell of the house where my scooter was supposed to be, but…
How did it go afterwards for the recovery of your TMAX? Were there any particular difficulties? #
… No scooter in the identified property, no active proximity radar. I didn’t understand anything anymore. Leaving the property, I said without thinking: “If my scooter is in the shelter next door (outside the property) on the street”. And then one of the officers goes to see and shouts that there is a scooter and it was mine!
What is strange is that once at the garage (to repair the damaged ignition), I show the application and there, the position was no longer in the house but on the edge of the property, as if the owner had moved the scooter between the time I arrived alone, then left to call the police.
The mystery remains. An investigation was opened but still no news more than 6 months later. I tried to have a logical explanation: either the tracking was not accurate, but that was a lot anyway, or the scooter was moved when the owner saw me when I arrived alone (he saw me and quickly went back to his box which made me believe that my scooter was indeed in his basement).
Do you think that tracking your belongings to protect them is in vogue and that the use is becoming widespread? #
After talking with my mechanic, apparently not enough, many don’t think about it. Most buy one after being stolen!
If you had to summarize this misadventure in a few words, what would you say? #
Invoxia saved me 20,000 €! (price of the scooter and options)
This new testimonial illustrates how a GPS tracker can make a difference in the face of vehicle theft. Thanks to his anticipation and choice of Invoxia, he was able to locate and recover his TMAX, thus avoiding a loss of nearly 20,000 €. His testimony reminds us of the importance of protecting our belongings before it's too late, as he himself points out: many owners only think of equipping themselves after being victims.
