How can you ensure the safety of a loved one with autism without being physically present with them? This is probably one of the questions that parents of autistic children ask themselves as they wish to offer them maximum freedom and autonomy safely.
To answer this question, Jean D.* found the solution: the GPS tracker. Discover his story!
Let’s get to know each other a bit, can you tell me more about yourself in a few words? #
I am 63 years old and I am from the Dijon region in Côte d’Or (21). One of our three children has autism and drives a car without a license. That’s why I bought a GPS tracker that allows us to monitor our son’s trips and reassure ourselves.
What led you to equip yourself with a GPS tracker? #
Our son broke down some time ago, and since he was unable to explain exactly where he was, I was able to find him quickly thanks to the GPS tracker.
Why did you choose an Invoxia GPS tracker? #
I chose this Invoxia tracker because it is easy to use and the battery lasts a very long time, about a month.
How did you introduce the GPS tracker into your son’s daily life? #
I did not introduce it to my son, as he would not understand what this object is for; I simply place it in the glove compartment.
For you, what are the advantages of the GPS tracker? #
It allows for constant monitoring, and as soon as there is movement of the vehicle, even a door opening, a signal is sent to my phone.
So it is a safety measure and it reassures!
Have you ever experienced an incident where the GPS tracker was useful to you? #
A breakdown, as mentioned above.
Do you think that keeping an eye on loved ones is becoming more common and that its use is democratizing? #
Yes, it is a very reassuring tool for certain cases: not to monitor a person but for safety.
On our side, we remain loyal to Invoxia since I have purchased five GPS trackers, two of which are for one of our other sons who regularly travels with valuable professional camera equipment in suitcases.
While the use of a GPS tracker to watch over a loved one is still debated today, it is important to remember that certain situations can benefit from such a device. As Jean indicates: the safety of his loved ones comes first, not surveillance.
